Recent new displays
Barnet Timeline: Look up when you are inside the Museum and you will see a timeline of Barnet's history running round the top of the wall. The timeline starts in 1005 and finishes (for the moment) in 2017.
World War One: Many objects, photos and documents relating to the impact of the war on Barnet and its residents, and the relatives of those living in Barnet now. (Image below of War Memorial plaque from Margaret Road School, New Barnet.)
Barnet High Street: Members of Barnet U3A have been working on a project with Barnet Museum to record shops in Barnet High Street from 1898 to 2014. The display includes a specially drawn map of 1896, and features photos and information about many shops and other businesses.
Helping us find out more… We would love to find out more about both of these topics. If you have information (eg documents, photos, objects, memories, etc) relating to either World War One or Barnet High Street, please do contact us. In particular we would like to find more items bought from or connected to local shops for the High Street display. We also hope to find out more about people from Barnet who fought in the war.
